The fruit pickup is scheduled for Thursday, December 3rd at the Sioux Falls Armory at the north end of the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds. Pickup times are from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. We will have someone there to help with your order if you need to pick it up before 3:00 pm. Large orders of 11 or more boxes (including beef sticks, string cheese – a change from last year) will be picked up through the garage door on the north side of the Armory. Orders of 10 or fewer boxes can be picked up through the south door.
Please remember to put your fruit in a location where it will not freeze. Do not leave it in your car or garage
Thanks, see you Thursday !

I can’t begin to put into words how blessed I feel to have been a part of this organization. I began as a ‘clueless’ freshman parent 10 years ago. And I mean clueless. I remember taking a lawn chair with me to Joe’s first competition in Marshall. I looked just a little ridiculous carrying it through the gates. I’m sure people wondered what I was going to do with it. And I was almost afraid of some of the band parents that seemed almost cult like! Yes, freshman parents, be honest, that thought has crossed your mind! Oh, and I was so musically challenged I commented to my kids once in the dome that someone else was playing the same song they do, to which my kids burst out laughing, telling me, “Mom, those are scales!” But it didn’t take long to realize this was a wonderful family atmosphere for my own family to have great experiences and to be a part of something bigger than life. Culminating with one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had, when my band kids and family sang Happy Birthday to me Monday night. And hearing Ave Maria one last time. Thank you Seniors. (more…)

We would like to thank the chaperones for their dedication and hard work this past season. You were an incredible, well oiled machine who made it through several tribulations, but with smiles and requests to do it again! Your willingness to give up sleep and often comfort is a testament to your support for all of ‘your’ band students. Because all of you did such a great job you made us look good. We couldn’t have done it without you! We hope that those of you with returning students found the experience rewarding and will come back for another season. To all of our senior parents who will no longer have a student in band we bid you adieu! We hope you take with you an abundance of wonderful memories of your experiences. Good luck to all of you: Becky and Chad Phillips, Shaleen Langenfeld, Angie and Dan Digatono, Lynn and Jim Thomason, Nancy and Tom Krueger, Lori Ontjes, and Teresa Wood.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

The annual fruit sale starts November 12, with ORDERS DUE NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 20.
Order packets will be handed out in band classes on Thursday and will be available in the band room for students without a band period.
Turn the money and order packets in to the box labeled “Band Fruit Sales” on the filing cabinets in the band room. Make sure your name is on the envelope and circle “band” on the order form to receive credit. Checks should be made payable to LHS Band.
This is a GREAT fundraiser: Students will earn 30% of their sales for their ISA.
The delivery date is December 3 at the Armory on the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds. You must pick up your orders on that date.
