ROSE PARADE BOUND!!!

Posted in Directors' Note, News by Dan Carlson

Congratulations are in store for the LHS Marching Band on their recent invitation to march in the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California!  The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 4, when the future president of the Tournament of Roses Parade called the band personally during a rehearsal before their DVD recording to inform them of the news.  This will be the band’s fourth trip to the Tournament of Roses Parade.  Thank you to the previous members of the LHS band for maintaining the legacy and excellence to gain acceptance into the parade, and good luck to the current and future members that will be participating.  You will make us proud!

Moving forward…

Posted in Directors' Note by Dan Carlson

We just want to again send out our sincere congratulations to the students of the LHS band for the two outstanding performances you all put in on Saturday.  The competition the other bands presented was outstanding and we are very proud of your efforts.  It was such a treat to have indoor-like conditions throughout most of the day and to see the performance under the lights is always a thrill.  We look forward to another week of hard work and another set of performances this weekend on Thursday night (DVD recording @ USF Stadium), Friday night, (LHS Football Game), and Saturday (Festival of Bands Parade and Field competition).  It’s hard to imagine that the season is almost over, but there are just a handful of rehearsals and performances left and then this season is in the books.  We would like to remind everyone to bring plenty of bug spray as the bog next to our rehearsal field is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.  Thanks for all of your hard work and keep your sights on maxing out this show – we’re certainly not there yet!!!
